What’s Your Response?
John. 11:45, 13:18, Acts 9:1, 26:1, James 1:2
Our lives, attitudes, and actions are a demonstration of our response to the goodness of God and worship is a part of that response.
Definition of Worship: The act of showing respect and love for God, especially by praying with others; extravagant respect or admiration for or devotion to God.
Our response to God shows Him, and others, the level of respect and love we have for Him! There are 3 types of responses I want us to look at:
- The Pharisee response: This is a response that just wants to check the boxes in order to fulfill what one believes they must do because of a list of rituals and not because of a relationship with God. Many times this is shown by going through the proper motions that check the right boxes set up by others. (Those that crucified Christ; John 11:45-57)
- The Judas/Peter response: This is a private versus public..those that will hang out or act one way in private or when we are around a certain group but once pressure is applied, or the thought of having to publicly acknowledge Christ, we go into denial. (The ones that betrayed and denied; John 13:13-38)
- The Paul response: The response of being willing to change when shown what we are doing wrong and are willing to admit we have made a mistake. Willingness to then be the same in public and in private no matter who is around.(The one who made the change once he had the encounter with Christ; Acts 9:1-9, 26:1-3)
